South Carolina Embraces the ERA

The Employee Rights Act (ERA) is now sponsored by more than 110 members of Congress. And the ERA’s support is especially strong among South Carolina’s congressional delegation. Sens. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott both support the bill’s pro-employee reforms, joining Reps. Jeff Duncan, Trey Gowdy, Mick Mulvaney, and Joe Wilson as co-sponsors.

Here’s then-Rep. Tim Scott, who first introduced the ERA in 2011, speaking about the ERA’s key provisions:

Scott now endorses presidential candidate Marco Rubio, who has pledged his support for the ERA on the campaign trail. Several other presidential candidates have endorsed the bill, including Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush. The former argues it would go a long way in “protecting working men and women in this country.”

Throw in the fact that 80 percent of Americans support the ERA’s key provisions, and it’s easy to see why pro-employee labor reform is so important.
